Welcome to The Spirit of the Wildfire-The Authentic Self
Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Courtney.
This might be a little longer blog post than what I intend to write on this site, because I really want to give you all the deets as far as who I am, what we do can do together, and why a wildfire? So let's jump in!
I decided to call this website the spirit of the wildfire, because I found it to be an accurate description of not only me, but what I intend to help YOU with.
The people closest to me have always described me as a firecracker, fire starter, etc. (even a therapist I saw a long time ago told me this!) I'm also a double Aries, which is a fire sign obvi, and also my favorite element is fire.
Now as for you-what does it mean to find your own wildfire within? Well...fire is authentic. We can see it, touch it, smell it. It just is what it is, and it makes no apologies for how hot and strong it can get. That's what we're shooting for.
A fire can keep you warm or burn your house down. It's beautiful but can burn. To create that fire you have to start small. You can't suffocate it. && if you put anything in it that doesn't belong you risk the potential of putting it out. But with all the right ingredients, it grows and grows. && that's finding your own wildfire.

Now, in order for a wildfire to sustain it's energy, it needs three things: oxygen, heat, and fuel. They call this the Fire Triangle.
The fire triangle I can teach you to keep our fire burning is: peace, power, and purpose.
Inner Peace
The first requirement of finding your inner wildfire, or your most authentic self, is cultivating space within for it to burn. You can do this through letting go of the past, practicing mindfulness techniques, and learning to connect your mind, body, and soul. Breath work is huge here, as it is the oxygen we need to sustain life!
Igniting Your Power
Once you've surrendered to the process and have released and cleared all the old, it's time to fill yourself back up with something new and powerful. The fuel. To ignite your inner power you can work on things like your vibrational frequency, communication skills, balancing your chakras, honoring your strengths, and becoming aligned with the universe.
Soul's Purpose
Okay, let's bring on the heat! The final part of our authentic triangle is living in your soul's purpose. This might mean your career or it might mean how you spend your free time. Your soul's purpose is also referred to as your Dharma, and as such working through fear, finding abundance, and doing any type of self-exploration through Dharma work is helpful.
Okay, now a little about me.
I grew up in what you might say was a "troubled" or "dysfunctional" home, although it's hard for me to see it that way. Unfortunately my Dad was physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive to my mom. We often moved around a lot, living in trailer parks to motels, and a huge house once, even. When I was about to turn 9, my mom packed us up in secret, and we ran from Va where we lived to WV to live with her mom to find safety.
Growing up in southern WV was hard, my mom didn't work due to her physical issues and we lived in Section 8 housing, way beneath poverty level. I spent my childhood alone-bullying being a daily occurrence and not having any friends, I very quickly got to know myself and really understand me.
After about a year, I started having behavioral problems that led my mom to seek a therapist for me. We only saw him once, but it was enough to change my life. He made me feel like I wasn't "troubled" but just reacting to my environment. A 9 year old kid who was lost. He empowered me. && I decided then and there I wanted to be a therapist that empowered people too.
My "behaviors" didn't stop after that however, they actually got worse throughout the years. From drugs, running away, B&E, theft charges and a little stint in jail at 19 for assault and battery, I was a lost kid. I was an angry kid. The older I got, the angrier I got. I made a vow after watching my dad mistreat my mom, and allowing kids to mistreat me at first, that I would never allow anyone to disrespect me in my life.
This continued on, and somewhere in between I went through college, and to university where I got my MA in Mental Health Counseling and began working in the field. Over time, I started to heal.
When I was about 28 I went through my Saturn return, and started questioning everything. Feeling even more lost and confused than ever in my life because I had always held my anger close like a friend but during this time was tired of it and wanted it gone. But without it, who was I? && how even do I do that?
So one day I hit my knees in the bathroom. Crying, begging for peace. Not praying really, because I never believed in anything, but just fully surrendering all of my control and anger. Speaking out loud that I just want peace. Eventually I peeled myself off the ground and went to bed.
The next day in my inbox was an invite to a 30 Day yoga challenge to find inner peace. This would be the first (of so many) signs and guidance from spirit for me. I did the challenge, fell in love with yoga, and ever since my spiritual practices, healing, and life in general just gets better and better.
Now I'm 32, and I know that my purpose is to help others do the same. This year I am transitioning from therapy to spiritual life coaching, teaching you all the things I learned about how I burned my house to the ground and rebuilt it with love and peace and purpose.
Whew! Did you make it to the end?! && just think-that was all wrapped up in a nutshell.
Hopefully you have an understanding of this program and me, and feel inspired to take action! Comment below if you read the whole thing and tell me-which of the authenticity triangle do you think you need to work on the most?
Thanks for reading! Stay burning-
